United Religions Initiative (URI) proudly announced the election of Eric Roux as Chair of the Global Council. Coming from Europe, Roux also serves as URI Europe's Global Council Trustee and member of the URI Europe Regional Leadership Team. His dedication to religious freedom and interfaith cooperation embodies the organization’s core values.

An advocate for freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), Roux has significantly contributed to advancing interfaith dialogue and protecting religious rights. In 2013, Eric became an active member of URI, when he first joined as Chair of the European Interreligious Forum for Religious Freedom (EIFRF), a URI Europe Cooperation Circle. In 2022, Eric Roux was elected as a Global Council Trustee from the URI Europe region. In the first two years of his term, he has served as Secretary of the CC Approval Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee.

Throughout his career, Eric has promoted religious freedom, human rights, and interfaith unity globally. He has been instrumental in advocating for the rights of religious minorities across Europe, spearheading several initiatives in partnership with the Council of Europe and other international organizations. His commitment extends to high-level institutions like the European Parliament, OSCE, and the United Nations, where he frequently speaks.

Eric Roux is also an ordained minister of the Church of Scientology and serves as Vice-President of its European Office for Public Affairs and Human Rights. His election to lead the Global Council is celebrated by URI members, including former Chair Preeta Bansal and URI Executive Director Jerry White, who praised his collaborative vision for the future.

Eric Roux's election as Chair of URI’s Global Council marks a transformative era of inclusive leadership. His appointment promises to enhance URI's mission promoting enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, ending religiously motivated violence, and creating cultures of peace, justice, and healing for the Earth and all living beings.
