Elisabeth L’heure, URI Global Council Trustee, Europe (2008-2016) and AUDIR CC member, recently received the Cassià Just Memorial Award from the Government of Catalonia.

The Memorial recognizes individuals who have “dignified the construction of a common space and plurality of religious option.” Elisabeth was recognized for her commitment to the right of freedom of thought, conscience, religion, and interreligious dialogue which created the conditions for a viable shared humanity. Her contribution bringing a feminist and feminine vision to the interfaith field was highlighted. In her acceptance speech Elisabeth said, “in a world of fake news, hate speech and violence we must be the antidote to falsehoods and slander.”

Elisabeth, a member of the Bahai faith, served as a respected and beloved member of the URI Europe Leadership team, and a leading staff person with UNESCOCAT/AUDIR CC, Catalonia. URI is grateful to Elisabeth for her years of volunteer service and her dedication to interfaith cooperation. Hearty congratulations, Elisabeth, for this praiseworthy award!
