URI Germany and the Evangelical community initiated together an action at the Intercultural Week and World-Peace Day 2020 in the citypark Bonn-Bad Godesberg. Marianne Horling and Helgard Rehders put together a collection of songs from different cultures and faiths to sing along with the visitors and passers-by.
Normally these events take place in the Drinkwater-Pavillion, but to adhere to the current corona-virus safety measures, we had to sing in the open-air - despite the rain! Nevertheless people who like to sing, came and brought their good mood. „Singing in the Rain“ was not in the repertoire…
We had songs from the Sufi-tradition as well as from the rich collection of the Evangelical Church. An old melody was revised with a new text: „How beautiful is it, when strangeness is gone“. It describes the enrichment which we can have in our relationship to strangers and other cultures.
