URI Europe at Turkish National Agency and opportunities for funding youth projects

As a branch of the European Union's Erasmus network, the Turkish National Agency' mission is to financially support youth and learning programmes while also helping related organizations. The agency also contributes economic, social, cultural, and entrepreneurial cooperation, and also provides employment opportunities. Through these initiatives, National Agency carries education to the international level.

The National Agency supports ESN Turkey and its 36 sections at the organizational level and also encourages the universities to support the organizations and their events. National Agency is also one of the biggest sponsors of the Annual General Meeting Ankara which is the most important event for ESN. AGM Ankara receives not only financial, but also organizational support from the National Agency.

URI Europe assistant coordinator Lejla Hasandedic was invited by Mr. Kemal Basci Erasmus+ Youth Mobility Coordinator and member of SIRF CC (Society for Intercultural Research and Friendship) to visit Turkish National Agency. There she has opportunity to get familiar with the programs and opportunities for youth people.

Among many programs and projects that are supported by National Agency two most important ones are EVS (European Voluntary Service) and Youth Exchange Program – Erasmus+ Youth.

European Voluntary Service

An EVS  project is a partnership between two or more promoting organizations. These organizations are responsible for recruiting volunteers for their project.

Volunteers participate in EVS through a Sending Organization in the country where they live and a Receiving Organization that receives and hosts them during their period of service.

Projects last from 2 weeks to 12 months, and as a volunteer you can work in a wide range of fields, such as culture, youth, sports, children, cultural heritage, arts, animal welfare, environment and development cooperation. At the end of your EVS period, you will receive a certificate confirming your participation and describing your project – the Youthpass.

You will receive free accommodation, food, insurance and pocket money. The only thing you might have to pay is a small part of your travel costs. You can get more information here.

European Youth Exchange

With your association or a few friends, you can meet people your age and discover how they live and talk about topics that interest you.

The Youth in Action program offers you the opportunity through Action 1.1 "Youth Exchange" that will help you to host European youth in your area or from their encounter in their countries to work together on a specific project.

A Youth Exchange is an activity that brings together young people from at least two countries in the Youth in Action program on a project developed and implemented jointly by working together, young people learn about themselves, discover their similarities and differences and discuss issues that concern them. Cultural diversity, environment, information, health, solidarity and the fight against exclusion, sport and so on. The project is built around a common theme and generally results in a concrete production theater, video, exhibition, collective creation. Youth need s actively involve in various stages of project preparation, implementation and evaluation. You can get more information here.
